Associations acquire legal personality upon registration with the Public Registry. Foundations

Foundations are typically created through a founding act or testamentary disposition. They do not have members, instead, they are administered in accordance with the founder’s intent. Committees

A committee is generally conceived as a temporary nonprofit organisation formed to achieve a specific and often time-limited objective. It is commonly used in situations where funds are raised for a particular cause or event.

Although committees tend to have a simpler organisational structure than associations or foundations, they may still be required to register formally, especially if they manage significant resources or operate on a broader scale. Their temporary nature distinguishes them from other nonprofit forms, as they are typically dissolved once their objective has been fulfilled.

Non-Governmental Development Organisations

Non-Governmental Development Organisations, commonly referred to as ONGDs, are not a distinct legal category under Peruvian law. Instead, they are usually established as associations but may register with the Peruvian Agency for International Cooperation if they intend to receive international funding.

Registration as an ONGD entails additional compliance obligations, including reporting and transparency requirements. This framework enables such organisations to participate in international cooperation programs and to access foreign donations. ONGDs are frequently involved in development, humanitarian, and social impact initiatives, both locally and internationally.
